The Foundry Standard

BodyMindCharacterService

Every drill, lesson, assessment, and report serves one picture: the young person The Foundry exists to form.

A Foundry athlete training on the track

The Foundry Graduate

Who a Foundry athlete becomes.

A Foundry graduate moves with speed, control, and confidence, and knows how to train and care for their own body. They can focus when it matters and stay composed under pressure, win or lose. They keep their word, do the work when no one is watching, and accept correction without excuse. They make the people around them better: they lead by example, encourage by name, and give back to the community and to the younger athletes coming behind them.

The Four Pillars

How the Standard is built, and how we know.

50 drills · 5 tests · 3 assessments a term.

How we build it

  • A written curriculum of fifty drills, each with a mastery standard.
  • Sprint mechanics, strength, and mobility in every session.
  • Athletes learn to lead their own warm-up and recovery.

How we measure it

  • Five tests, three times a term, against each athlete's own beginning.
  • A coach-graded Mechanics Form Score.
  • A Mobility Screen at the start and end of every term.

Why the Standard

Avelino Elie, Founder and Program Director of The Foundry
For nearly ten years I coached adults who were successful by every measure, yet many had never been taught how to train, how to rest, or how to keep a standard when no one was watching. I built The Foundry so young athletes would learn it first. The Standard is our promise to every family: we will form the whole athlete — body, mind, character, and service — and we will measure what matters. Iron sharpens iron.

One Standard, Growing

What the Standard looks like as an athlete grows.

  1. By eight

    Foundational

Runs tall, jumps and lands safely, balances, and moves with joy.

  2. By twelve

    Developmental

Sound sprint mechanics at speed, strength basics, and leads part of the warm-up.

  3. By sixteen

    Performance

Mature mechanics, trains with intent, and leads their own warm-up, mobility, and recovery.

The Standard is the same for every athlete. It is never a ranking, never a body standard, and never a label.

Measured against their own beginning

Never by weight or appearance

Every athlete on their own timeline

The Foundry Pathway · Begins Fall 2027

Iron is not born. It is forged.

Seven levels, each earned through mastery, focus, character, and service. Every level is earned. None is given. No one is ranked.

  1. I · Spark

    I–III · Foundational

    Body

Posture, balance, safe landings, and the first marching drills.

    Mind

Answers “Iron!” and is in formation within three seconds.

    Character

Says the Oath with the group, takes turns, and is honest about effort.

    Service

    Encourages a teammate by name.

A preview of the Pathway. Full standards will be published before Fall 2027.

How a level is earned

  1. 1

    Progress

Mastery, focus, character, and service are recorded across the term.

  2. 2

    Recommendation

A coach recommends an athlete who meets all four parts.

  3. 3

    Demonstration

The athlete demonstrates privately for two coaches, never in front of others.

  4. 4

    Recognition

Levels are presented at the end-of-term ceremony, with a Pathway patch.

  • One level per term, so mastery lasts.

  • Never tied to speed.

  • Never ranked.

  • Never taken away.

  • Adapted, never lowered.

Founding athletes’ mastery this term counts toward their first level.

The standard is the same for every athlete. The path is their own.
